The 30th annual San Juan Bautista Art/Crafts & Wine Festival was held over the weekend. The event, held on Third Street at Muckelemi and Washington streets, featured 60 vendors and seven wineries. Christine Dreifuss, vice president of the San Juan Bautista Chamber of Commerce, said the event was “very successful … and (brought) a lot of people in town, which the town needed.” Carolyn Roe-Gargiulo, president of the SJB chamber, estimated that about 2,000 people showed up Saturday and somewhere between 3,000 and 3,500 on Sunday – an increase of about 1,000 people overall. Dreifuss said there were 10 new vendors over last year, with sellers coming from as far north as Sacramento and as far south as Los Angeles. A new event at this year’s festival was having karaoke on Sunday afternoon. There were also two live bands on Saturday and Sunday. Although there were concerns about the weather on Saturday morning, Roe-Gargiulo said, “It was a great event – the weather worked perfect.”
