Two Hollister High athletes have been nominated for the final Athletes-of-the-Month for Monterey Bay Preps. Nominated for the month of April were seniors Steve Bianchi and Naomi Ruiz.
Bianchi placed second in the high jump at the Top 8 Meet at Los Gatos High on April 26 with a leap of 6-2. He was fifth in the triple jump at 44-0 3/4. He later won the T-CAL meet at a PR of 45-10 3/4. Most recently, Bianchi placed fourth in the TJ at the Central Coast Section meet at 45-7.
Ruiz, the school record holder, unleashed the platter 133-8 at the King City Relays in late April. She added the league title with a PR of 138-7 in mid-May, then captured last Friday’s CCS championship in the discus at 132-2.
