Local authorities this morning confiscated 16,000 marijuana plants in a raid of a garden in southern San Benito County, according to a statement from the United Enforcement Narcotics Team.

Officers with UNET, the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, California Bureau of Narcotics and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office took part in the raid. UNET noted how it is the start of marijuana growing season and the plants were two- to four-feet tall. The estimated street value was $800,000.

Agents found one handgun in a camp area by the marijuana garden. It appeared as though the growers had fled the scene as agents made entry into the garden area, according to UNET. There were no arrests.
