Bachofer, who was moved from the No. 8 seed to No. 7 due to a default, burrowed from behind to defeat Aubrey Cubilo of Terra Nova 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in Monday’s first round at the Courtside Tennis Center in Los Gatos.

Bachofer was down 4-2 in the second set.

Bachofer fell to Stephanie Schnitter of St. Francis in the second round 6-0, 6-0. Schnitter is ranked 55th nationally in the 16-and under category.
