North Salinas High made seven 3-pointers on its way to a 54-25 rout of visiting Hollister Wednesday in a Tri-County Athletic League girls basketball contest.
It was the lowest offensive output of the season for the Balers, dating back to a season-opening loss to Watsonville Nov. 23 when they scored 29 points.
No player scored in double digits for the Balers (15-9, 2-6), who made just seven field goals out of 25 attempts. One was a three-pointer by Erika Rodriguez.
Hollister also shot poorly from the line – 8-for-26 – and committed a hefty 38 turnovers.
In her first varsity game since being called up from the junior varsity, sophomore center Jaime Hall had five points, two blocks and two rebounds for the Lady Balers.
The Vikings (15-8, 6-2) also didn’t have a player in double figures, but 10 different players got in the scoring column.
The Balers host a good Salinas team on Tuesday.
JV score: Hollister 53, North Salinas 25. The Balers (23-2), playing without Hall for the first time, exploded to a 22-2 lead after the first period.
Three Hollister players each had nine rebounds – Rachelle Barrientos, Kristina Leal and Denise Simons. Ashley Patton and Jennifer Anaya had four steals each. Leal had eight points with Barrientos seven.
