Ian Hudson and Zach Zgragen each carded 38 as the Hollister High boys golf team defeated Homestead in a practice match at Ridgemark Golf Club Thursday.

With scores from eight players counting, the Balers beat the Mustangs 326-346.

Other Baler scores included Matt Vigilante (39), John Dempsey (41), Chris Zubiaga (41), Matt Lopez (43), Derek Lee (43) and Danny Rivera (43). Par was 36 on Gavilan’s front nine.

On Wednesday, he Baler junior varsity was nipped by Palma at Laguna Seca J.C. It was the first loss by a Baler junior varsity team in a year and a half, according to head coach Mitch Thomas.

Zubiaga had a 41, Rivera a 44, Curt Rhodes a 46, Ryan Stevens a 47, while Chris Shackleton and Ryan Wood each had 49.

The Balers send a six-player team to the Monterey Bay Invitational Monday at Salinas Country Club with a shotgun start of 11 a.m.

The Balers are back at Salinas CC Tuesday in a Tri-County Athletic League match with Palma and Live Oak.
