Six-and-one and not much fun. That’s the buzz with Hollister High boys tennis after four matches.

The Balers lost to visiting Live Oak 6-1 Thursday at the Ridgemark Tennis Center. It was the fourth time in four matches that Hollister has been dealt a 6-1 setback.

“Live Oak had three good singles players,” said Baler head coach Allen Barker. “They have good balance. We should have played better in doubles.”

The one victor for the Balers (0-4, 0-1 Tri-County Athletic League) was freshman Cameron Barker. Barker defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-0.

Glen Morris started slow losing the first set 1-6. Morris recovered to lead the second set 5-4, but fell in two sets 5-7.

In No. 1 doubles, Pablo Andrade and Isidro Trujillo lost 2-6, 2-6, in what Allen Barker described as “closer than that”.

The No. 2 doubles team of Larry Branquinho and Spencer Gonzalez were defeated 6-7 tiebreaker and 0-6.

The No. 3 doubles team of Remi Rodberg and Ryan Andrade, in a fill-in role, battled hard before falling 3-6, 3-6.

The Balers will try to get off the schneid next Tuesday at Gilroy.
