A miscommunication caused the cancelation of Tuesday’s non-league volleyball match between San Benito High and Scotts Valley. The Balers were 15 minutes into their bus trip when Baler head coach Chuck Schallhorn’s phone rang. Baler Athletic Director Randy Logue made some calls, then informed Schallhorn to return home.

“I guess their coach decided to cancel the game sometime in the past few months,” said Schallhorn.

“We got a call from their coach at about 3:05 p.m. and he told us that he had heard a rumor that we were coming over for a match,” said Logue. “Fortunately, the bus was at about San Juan Bautista and not all the way over in Scotts Valley.”

The Balers head to the Reno Tournament this weekend with three pool play games on Friday. San Benito is at Branham in San Jose on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. in another non-league contest.
