Few teams from the Tri-County Athletic League were able to compete with the San Benito Haybalers this season, and they proved as much.

San Benito completed its undefeated season Thursday night, sweeping past Watsonville in three games (25-7, 25-10, 25-19) to finish the TCAL with a perfect 14-0 record, 23-7 overall.

Of its 14 wins in league, 13 of them came by a 3-0 margin, with the lone non-sweep a 3-2 victory over Monterey.

San Benito also won its TCAL matches by a 42-2 set margin, and will now await its seed for next week’s CIF-Central Coast Section Division I Boys Volleyball Championships. The seeds are expected to be announced on Saturday, with the first round beginning on Tuesday.

Senior setter Adrian Rodriguez dished out each and every one of San Benito’s assists on Thursday night, 40 in all, while Luis Bradley put down 14 kills and Erik Rodriguez added 13 in the three-set rout.

Danny Ruiz once again led the team in digs, as well as from behind the service line, after the senior defensive specialist contributed 25 digs and 12 service points, three of which were aces. Bradley, meanwhile, added 11 digs and Adrian Rodriguez had 11 service points.

Thursday’s season finale was Senior Night for the ‘Balers, which celebrated a slew of seniors, including Erik Rodriguez, Joseph Flores, Danny Ruiz, Javier Castaneda, Adrian Rodriguez, Brian Hawks and Luis Bradley.

San Benito’s CCS seeding is expected to be announced this weekend. Check back for the for the latest updates.
