The Balers are coming into the game as the favorites, but coach Chuck Schallhorn isn’t thinking past the first round.
“I can’t look past tomorrow,” Schallhorn said Tuesday night after practice while getting his class grade reports together. “Based on comments from other coaches, we feel like we can take care of business.”
The volleyball team switched times with the girls basketball team Tuesday to have an extra half hour of practice. Part of the time was used to put up game flyers on the campus.
“I’m pretty excited,” said junior setter Kathleen McCullough. “We’ve been working on team communication. We need to get the passes up and get the kills on the floor.”
The Balers will have a full team together for the game, Schallhorn said.
“At this point, it looks like everyone is back and healthy, so we have the full complement of our team.”
“For the first match we have been working on our offense,” Schallhorn said. “If we play Salinas, we want to work a little more on defense and take their attack away from them.”
The Balers have been working on the fundamentals this week, Schallhorn said.
“Passing and serving are the two things you must have if you are going to succeed,” Schallhorn said. “Beyond that, everything is relatively easy to get together if you have those. We’ve worked on a little of everything this week.”
