The Hollister High girls soccer team inched towards a berth in the Central Coast Section playoffs with a 6-3 victory at North Salinas Wednesday.

The Balers (13-4-2, 6-1-1 Tri-County Athletic League) can clinch a CCS berth by winning their final two T-CAL games. Another possible scenario where the Balers can clinch is a win over Salinas this Friday, coupled with a Notre Dame loss at first place Live Oak on Friday.

The Balers led 4-1 against the Vikings, but North Salinas punched in two more goals to make things interesting at the half at 4-3. Michelle Sanchez scored on a breakaway at the beginning of the second half, then Jennifer Vandenberg tallied her third goal of the match for more insurance.

Jenny Maheu had two goals and two assists, while Julie Broyer added an assist for the Balers.

The Balers and Cowboys are set to kick off at 5:30 p.m. Friday on the Andy Hardin pitch in a homecoming match.

JV score: Hollister 3, North Salinas 1. Erica Trujillo scored two goals for the Balers while Melissa Lewis added another goal.
