The Central Coast Barnstormers will begin their quest to return
to the state championship game when they host the opening round of
the Northern California Football Federation playoffs today at
Garcia-Elder Complex in Gilroy.
Gilroy – The Central Coast Barnstormers will begin their quest to return to the state championship game when they host the opening round of the Northern California Football Federation playoffs today at Garcia-Elder Complex in Gilroy.

The No. 1 Barnstormers (8-0) will face the No. 4 Modesto Raiders (4-4). Game time is set for 1pm.

The Barnstormers finished the regular season undefeated for the second straight season. They had three shutouts and led the league in interceptions and sacks. Ben Murdoch recorded 12 sacks to lead the league.

Offensively, the Barnstormers were second in total points. They were led by the league’s top rusher Derrick Morrison. With longtime quarterback Bryan Smith unable to play because of a medical problem, Rhett Van De Mark used a strong arm to carry the team.

The Barnstormers won the previous meeting this year of the two teams this year, 26-0.
