During March and April, the number of traffic collisions and arrests of intoxicated drivers dropped dramatically statewide compared to the previous year, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A San Jose man was pronounced dead at the scene of a Jan. 2 traffic accident on Highway 25 near Bolsa Road, according to authorities. A Hollister man who was driving another vehicle involved in the accident was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Police arrested a 31-year-old motorist who allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian in east Hollister, then fled the scene without reporting the accident.
Police are investigating a traffic collision in which a 30-year-old Hollister motorist died while trying to pass another vehicle on Shore Road July 12.
