Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz confirmed through e-mail Friday that negotiations will “finalize soon” for a Nov. 6 bout pitting Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero against Vicente Escobedo.

Guerrero (27-1-1) is six weeks removed from a unanimous decision triumph over veteran southpaw Joel Casamayor, his first victory at junior welterweight.

The Gilroy native will move back down to lightweight for the Escobedo fight.

The 28-year-old Escobedo holds a 21-2 career record, and last fought Sept. 19, 2009, in a losing effort against Michael Katsidis for the interim WBO lightweight title.

Guerrero easily handled Casamayor on July 31 on the undercard for the Juan Manuel Marquez-Juan Diaz rematch on HBO pay-per-view. The Ghost sent Casamayor to the canvas early in the match and cruised to the victory.
