A 15-year-old boy was sent to the hospital with bruises Thursday night after a vehicle hit him near San Benito High School, the Hollister Police Department reported.

The driver of the vehicle fled after the crash at 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of Nash Road and Monterey Street, said officers Rosie Betanio, spokeswoman for the Hollister Police Department. Betanio said the driver returned 30 minutes later and was arrested on suspicion of a felony hit-and-run.

The 15-year-old Hollister boy suffered a bruise above his left eye and bruises on both arms and his left knee, Betanio said. He was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital for treatment, police said.

Officers reported the man was driving eastbound on Nash Road and the boy was crossing southbound on Monterey Street when the crash occurred.
