Registration starts at Methodist preschool
HOLLISTER – The Methodist Preschool will be holding registration for returning families March 21, at 8 a.m., including currently enrolled children and siblings of currently enrolled children, at 521 Monterey St. Alumni families will be able to register March 21, at 2:30 p.m., including children of former students or siblings of former students. New families will be able to register March 22, at 8 a.m. The registration fee is $75, with a materials fee of $100. The summer school registration fee is $30 for five weeks. Details: 831-637-0440.
Public safety memorabilia
HOLLISTER – The San Benito County Historical Society will host a presentation by Joseph Alvarado on collecting public safety memorabilia, March 27, at 7 p.m., at the San Benito County Historical Museum, 498 Fifth St., in Hollister. The presentation will include a PowerPoint and a sampling of different items, some with local historical significance. Details: 831-524-2292.
‘Sound of Music’
HOLLISTER – San Benito High School’s spring musical “Sound of Music” will be performed March 13, 14, 21, 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets are available at the door for $9.
SJB crab feed
The annual San Juan Bautista Crab Feed is set for 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 16 at Casa Maria, 600 First St. It is $45 per person and includes all you can eat crab, pasta, salad and bread with a no-host bar, music, dancing and a silent auction. It is presented by the chamber, which can be reached at (831) 637-5315.
Sheriff to speak at event
The next Lunch With Leaders event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 20 at Ridgemark Golf & Country Club, 3800 Airline Highway. The guest speaker will be Sheriff Darren Thompson. The chamber asks that residents make reservations early. A buffet lunch is provided with the reservation. With a reservation it is $15. Without it is $18. Top Hatters Bike Blessing
The 20th annual Top Hatters Motorcycle Club Bike Blessing is set for March 24. Check-in is at 11 a.m. to noon at Whiskey Creek Saloon, 201 Fifth St. It is $20 and includes food, door prizes, vendors, entertainment and 50/50. The end stop is Bolado Park.
‘Karma – Cause and Effect’
HOLLISTER – Jim Macur will be visiting from Denver as part of his West Coast teaching tour on March 26, at 7:30 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Building, 649 San Benito St., Rm. 218. The lecture topic will be “Karma – Cause and Effect.” For more details, go to the website diamondway.org/hollister. It is $10.
Geocache bash
HOLLISTER – Visit Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area April 13 for the second annual four-wheel drive Geocache Bash. Registration from 8 to 9 a.m, with geocaching from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be a free raffle at 3 p.m. and a free lunch at noon compliments of the Hollister Hills Off Road Association. Annual Easter egg hunt
HOLLISTER – The Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary Post 9242 will host their annual Easter egg hunt at Veterans Memorial Park March 30, at 1 p.m. There will be three hunting areas for children of different ages, including 2-4, 5-7 and 8-10. For children that do not find any eggs, there will be some available at the command post. No parents will be allowed in the hunting areas and the hunt will start exactly at 1 p.m.
Walk a mile in her shoes
HOLLISTER – Emmaus House and Community Solutions are teaming up for a “march to end gender and teen dating violence, sexual assault, and promote positive, healthier gender relations.” Men are invited to participate for $30, with a pair of women’s heels included in the entry fee, with women invited to participate for $20. The walk is April 6, at 11 a.m., at Fourth and San Benito streets, with a one-mile course marked out. The first person to cross the finish line in heels, the first team to cross the finish line in heels, the top individual fundraiser, top team fundraiser and the largest team will all get prizes.
