Most golfers know to open up their clubhead on bunker shots. This is because the sandwedge is designed to create enough bounce to allow the club to pass underneath the ball without getting stuck in the sand.

Golfers actually have do something against the wedge to prevent it from working. Remember, let the club do all the work.

When trapped in the sand, the key is to first dial your clubhead open before gripping the club. Many golfers will grip their club first then open the face. But this doesn’t work because your club will square to your grip during a swing. To avoid this, a golfer must open the club’s face before gripping it.

Once the grip and clubhead alignment is correct, you simply need to throw the sand out of the bunker. The ball is the largest grain of sand, so it should fly the furthest.

Golf Anger Management

There are just some shots and putts that can get under our skins. We can be so cool at work with issues of much greater importance, but on the golf course, we lose our tempers. In this case, some of golfing friends will laugh and other times, they’ll wish you stayed home. And that’s because of our anger on the course.

On the golf course, one of the fundamental errors anger brings is making you look backward instead of the present.

Professional golfer Jim Flick – Arnold Palmer’s college roommate – said the main difference between the two after a bad tee shot was that Flick would be mad at himself as he walked to his ball, while Palmer walked and thought about his next shot. Flick’s mind was in the past thinking about his tee shot and Palmer was thinking of his next shot.

Another pro golfer, Raymond Floyd, feels letting anger get the best of him makes him think like a loser. To Floyd, losing your temper is quitting, and you don’t want to quit.

So on the golf course, control you temper. Your golf game will improve because of that.
