Potted Easter Lily Sale: Chapter 270 of the California School Employees Association, representing the Professional Support Services employees of Gavilan College, is now taking orders for potted Easter Lilies to be delivered the week of April 5. A payment of $8 per potted lily is due at the time of order. All funds will be donated to provide scholarships for Gavilan College students. Payments may be made in cash or check, payable to CSEA Chapter 270. The deadline to order is March 26. snow white: Rainbow Theater presents “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” Fridays, March 26 and April 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays, March 27 and April 3 at 5 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Hollister. Eighth Grade Preview Night: San Benito High School’s Eighth Grade Preview Night will be held Wednesday, March 24 in the Mattson Gym at 6:30 p.m. Various presentations will be held throughout the evening all over campus. There will be a special meeting for migrant students and Spanish-speakers at 6 p.m. in Room 344. A meeting for families of Special Education students will be held in Room 360 at 6 p.m.

prunedale road: As part of the Highway 101/156 interchange project, Prunedale North Road will be closed until Friday, March 26 at 6 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists wanting to access Vierra Canyon Road via southbound 101 will be detoured to Boronda Road in Salinas. Prunedale North Road will still be accessible from the San Miguel interchange. Alcohol and Drug Abuse: San Benito County Medical Home Project Coalition is putting on a workshop on the effects of alcohol and drug abuse on childhood development. It will be held March 24 at the First Presbyterian Church in the multi-purpose room, 2066 Cienega Road. The workshop is broken down into four sessions: Session A for parents, grandparents and foster care parents is from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church; Session B for physicians, physicians assistants and nurse practitioners is at the Gil Gallery at Hazel Hawkins Hospital from noon to 2 p.m.; Session C for nurses, social workers, probation officers and counselors at First Presbyterian Church; Session D for preschool teachers, special education teachers and classroom assistants is from 6-8:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. San Juan Home and School Club: The San Juan Home and School Club is holding their first annual Open House BBQ Dinner, and parents and families of San Juan School students and the public are invited to an evening of great food and fun featuring a delicious Mansmith’s BBQ dinner. It will be held Thursday, March 25 from 5:30- 8 p.m. at the San Juan School outdoor basketball courts. Adult meals are $7 and child meals are also available. To-go orders will be available. Mission Gallery: Aquatint etchings by Stephen McMillan will be featured at Mission Gallery in San Juan Bautista from March 27 through April 5. They are original prints pulled from copper plates that have been drawn freehand and etched with acid. Kindergarten Registration: Southside School Registration dates are March 29 through April 2, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proof of birth and immunization are required, and the student must be 5 years of age on or before Dec. 1, 2004.

Bay Meadows Bus Trip: A bus trip to Bay Meadows will be held April 14 at $60 per person. The fee includes bus transportation to Bay Meadows, tip for driver, admission, program and buffet, including snacks. The bus departs at 9:30 a.m. from Gold’s Gym parking lot and returns at 6:30 p.m. Reservation and money must be turned in by March 31 to the SBCAOR Office.

Historical Society: The San Benito County Historical Society will be holding its monthly general meeting on March 31 at 7 p.m. at the Dunne Park Club House, at West and 6th streets in Hollister. A reading will be offered pertaining to the history of Jesse Ross and Warren Bowden, two early pioneers in San Benito County. Refreshments will be served and the event is free to the public.

Education Fund: Members of the community are being asked for tax deductible donations to help support the Connie O’Connor Education Fund. Since her untimely death in 1996, Connie’s family has helped keep her spirit and love for teaching alive by raising money for schools in Hollister. Connie attended Sacred Heart School and San Benito High School, and after finishing college, came back to her community and taught second and third grade at Sunnyslope Elementary. Since her death in 1996, more than $20,000 has been raised for school supplies in Hollister. Pinnacles National Monument: Pinnacles National Monument will be opening the Bear Gulch Cave to public access until Wednesday, March 31. After March 31 the cave will be closed again until October.
