By appointment only, those who need held preparing their tax returns should bring the tax package they received in the mail, last years return and all relevant information on income and expense. Volunteer counselors are not trained to assist in preparing tax returns that report business, rental or partnership income. For more information or appointment, call Dolly at 637-1980.

disaster assistance: Small businesses are eligible to apply for low interest disaster loans to offset economic losses because of reduced revenue to farmers and ranchers caused by excessive rain and wheat stripe rust in 10 California counties. Small businesses may apply for economic losses that are attributable to the following incident dates: San Benito County from April 1-May31, 2003. The deadline to apply is June 23, 2004. Retail Stores: This free eight hour training course will help you learn the basics of working in retail. The first workshop will be held Friday, March 26 and April 2, 16 and 23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gavilan College SBDC offices at the Dry Creek Village Center, 8351 Church Street, Building E in Gilroy. Small Business Workshop: Learn how to increase sales to your business, secure contracts with state and federal agencies, get information on how to become certified for the 8(a) Program, HUB Zone Empowerment Contracting Program and as a small disadvantaged business, and how to find available jobs for bid to small businesses. The seminar will be held Thursday, April 29 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the San Benito Department of Community Services & Workforce Development Building in the conference room, located at 1131 San Felipe Road in Hollister.
