By appointment only, those who need held preparing their tax returns should bring the tax package they received in the mail, last years return and all relevant information on income and expense. disaster assistance: Small businesses are eligible to apply for low interest disaster loans to offset economic losses because of reduced revenue to farmers and ranchers caused by excessive rain and wheat stripe rust in 10 California counties. Small businesses may apply for economic losses that are attributable to the following incident dates: San Benito County from April 1-May31, 2003. The deadline to apply is June 23, 2004. Retail Stores: This free eight-hour training course will help you learn the basics of working in retail. The first workshop will be held Friday, April 16 and 23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gavilan College SBDC offices at the Dry Creek Village Center, 8351 Church Street, Building E in Gilroy. YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AND CAREER FAIR: People age 16 to 23 who are looking for summer employment are invited to participate in the fourth annual Youth Employment and Career Fair on Thursday, April 22, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Fourth and San Benito streets, Hollister. Participants should be prepared to complete an employment application and possibly be interviewed. Small Business Workshop: Learn how to increase sales to your business, secure contracts with state and federal agencies, get information on how to become certified for the 8(a) Program, HUB Zone Empowerment Contracting Program and as a small disadvantaged business, and how to find available jobs for bid to small businesses. The seminar will be held Thursday, April 29 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the San Benito Department of Community Services & Workforce Development Building in the conference room, located at 1131 San Felipe Road in Hollister. workshops: Gavilan Small Business Development Center is hosting small business workshops on marketing and customer service. The workshops will be offered at the CSDC Office at 1131 San Felipe Road, Hollister on Wednesdays, April 14, May 12 and June 9. The marketing class will be an overview of basic marketing strategies and will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Customer service will explain why customer service is so important and share the keys to quality customer service. These sessions will be from 1 to 3 p.m. The fee for each workshop is $20.
