It’s the economy, stupid.

Editor,

This is in regards to the opinion column “It’s the economy, stupid.”

The facts about how Mr. Carville and Mr. Clinton made this country better off than it has ever been economically and made it the best eight years for the average Joe and businesses that each have ever seen was due to the focus on the well being of the American workers and not the businesses.

The businesses will prosper because when workers have money in their pockets and a good feeling about their ability to stay employed they will spend money and fuel the engine called the economy.

In the years since the current administration has taken office, businesses have had nothing less than a license to exploit America with tax breaks, unfettered options to outsource jobs to other countries and to bring in lower paid out-of-state workers on local projects instead of using local workers. The businesses guilty of this are contractors, out-of-state contractors and developers who are not interested at all about the well being of the communities that they do business in.

When out-of-state workers are used, the money they make is sent back to their local economies and does not reticulate in ours by means of purchases of local products and services, the reinvestment of this money locally is very minimal due to the focus on sending as much as possible back to their families and benefiting their local economy, which is the main goal. These businesses love to use the federal minimum wage requirements that are much lower than our state requirements and do this illegally by forcing the out-of-state workers to accept these wages and if they say anything or complain they are terminated and sent home before they know what happened.

In the end, the developers make a bundle and the local residents get screwed, don’t put the famous Republican spin of a great American slogan “It’s the economy, stupid.”

This was not meant for use by the businesses to exploit the middle class, it’s to point out that America and the economy works for everyone when the focus is on helping the middle class and preserving jobs, stupid!
