South Valley Civic Theatre is presenting “Li’l Abner” through February, including: Feb. 12, and 13 at 8 p.m. The show is a broad spoof, but it is also a pointed satire taking on any number of topics ranging from an incompetent United States federal government to standards of masculinity. Local teen bands perform for benefit

Local teen bands Almost Chaos, Rapid Fire and Jackie Rocks Band will be performing at Coaster’s Lounge, 115 Beach Street on Valentine’s Day. The concert will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to benefit the American Red Cross, and Santa Cruz County Chapter and relief efforts in Haiti. There will be a $5 admission fee and the concert is all ages. A raffle will be held at the event with a 100 percent of the profits going to the American Red Cross. Valentine’s Day luncheon

The Post Leslie L. Garratt Veterans of Foreign Wars will be hosting a Saint Valentine’s Day celebration Feb. 15, at 11:30 p.m., 58 Monterey St., in Hollister. Rehearsals continue for Oriana Chorale

Gala The Monterey Bay Area council, which includes Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties, will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America with an Anniversary Gala and Eagle Recognition Dinner on Sat., Feb. 20, at the Monterey Conference Center. The public is invited to attend the A.I.W.F’s Feb. 21 restaurant rendezvous, a brunch at the Clement Restaurant in the Intercontinental Hotel. ‘Path of the Padres’

The “Path of the Padres” hikes will be held on some Fridays and most Saturdays and Sundays starting on Feb. 27 and will continue through April 18. The hikes are open to the public, ages 6 years and older by advance reservation only. School group hikes may be arranged during the week. School group reservations and general public reservations are now open. At least 10 people must be involved in the hike to be able to conduct a tour. The hike begins at the Los Banos Creek Reservoir boat launch ramp at 8 a.m. and returns to the ramp at about 3:30 p.m. To make a reservation, call (209)-826-1197 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a reservation fee of $12 per person 12 years old, and $7 per child age 6-12. Eroica trio master class and concert
