Hollister – The San Benito County Cattlewomen just named Janet French, a local woman with more than 30 years of involvement in the beef industry, as CowBelle of the Year.
French will represent the county group at the California Cattlewoman’s Convention on Nov. 8. French was selected for the role by the previous five CowBelles.
French has been involved with the San Benito County Cattlewomen for more than 25 years, serving as reporter, historian and vice president.
Her daughter Jessica French – executive director of the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce – is the group’s current vice president.
According to the Cattlewomen, French has worked to create “a more productive and homogenous herd” through her research on cattle genetics.
