“Finally, visual proof that Sarsfield has been lying. I’m glad somebody was smart enough to get a copy of the video of the March 11 Board meeting. Eight months versus 60 days, hmmmm! Kind of makes you wonder if that’s even true.
That also explains Sara Jones – Jon Sar. If Sara really is the DA, how lame would that be?
I forgot that he had also gotten caught lying about being ordered by the Department of Justice to do the ‘Brady fiasco.’ It’s a good think he’s the DA – he’d make a miserable crook. There are a lot of people in prison who got caught on video.”
“We could solve the city’s traffic and speeding problems by allowing police officers to keep all of the money collected from the traffic citations they write.
I bet that will motivate more aggressive traffic enforcement and fine collections in Hollister. And the bonus would be a town chock full of courteous and much safer drivers.
We could charge all county jail inmates rent for their cell space at Hollister’s current real estate market rates. Instead of paying the sheriff or his deputies a regular monthly salary, they would earn a ridiculously miniscule stipend and get their real money collecting rent checks from inmates. But instead of depositing the checks into a trust account, they could cash ’em down at the local check cashing joint so they didn’t have to report all of the fees they collect. If asked about the real amount collected, they could get evasive and intimidate their way out of answering.”
“As an out of town defense attorney who handles cases in both Monterey and San Benito County, I have known John Sarsfield for almost six years. I know him to be honest and hard working.
I have read your paper and this column’s constant charges being made against John. I purchase a copy in front of the courthouse when in town. It appears to an outside observer to be one or two writers who write in to trash him. The style of writing is almost always the same.
John is the District Attorney of San Benito County and was elected by 70 percent of the voters. From my understanding, apparently the loser of the race is now for the most part a standby court appointed public defender, who I think uses this column to trash the current DA.
Cases are moving through the DA’s office much faster than they did under Mr. Sarsfield’s predecessor. For years, the San Benito County DA’s office was a joke known for taking much longer than other local counties to process cases and having to drop more cases due to the total inept handling of their cases.
San Benito County voters made a wise choice in electing John Sarsfield.
It is too bad that a loser in the District Attorney race and friends may feel differently than 70 percent of the voters.”
“I am an avid motorcycle rider. I applaud the jury who convicted Mr. Orabuena and the District Attorney who tried the case. I have had people cut in front of me. I have had people make turns in front of me. I saw one car driver open his car door attempting to stop a motorcycle from passing him. The rider had to lay the bike down to avoid hitting the car.
I carry old spark plugs to throw at cars that cut me off. They get the message then.
My prayers got out to the family of Joseph Judnick who was killed by Mr. Orabuena when he turned in front of him. In all the noise concerning this case, the family of Mr. Judnick has been forgotten. I will not forget.”
