Jan. 12: Adopt a German Shepherd Dog

Jan 15: Guiding Good Choices

A free five-week interactive workshop is offered for the parents of 9- to 14-year-olds to help you and your family learn the skills to work together. Take action now to prevent your child(ren) from using alcohol or drugs. It will be at Esperanza Center, 327 Fifth St., on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. – Jan 15, 22, 29, and Feb 5 and 12. Jan. 22: Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

Community Solutions is providing Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Volunteer Advocate training. Training lasts six weeks beginning Jan 22, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and three full-day Saturdays at 6980 Chestnut St. in Gilroy. Community Solutions provides crisis intervention, shelter and legal advocacy.

Emmaus House seeks volunteers

Emmaus House, a safe shelter for women and their children that are victims of domestic violence is seeking additional volunteers to assist the staff and clients. Openings are available for transportation of clients, general housekeeping, children’s activities, bookkeeping, general office work and assisting house management with other necessary operations. Experienced counselors, teachers and health service personnel are also needed on a volunteer basis. Applications can be obtained by calling 831-636-7224 or by email to: [email protected].

Crafters needed
