Editor,
This gang thing has been a big issue for years. I have been a resident of Hollister all my life and the people who were involved in gangs had nothing better to do so they would form a clique. Or, their elders were involved so they would also get involved. It’s so sad because a lot of these gang member are young kids.
The other day, I was at K-Mart with my daughter and these guys were throwing signs at each other inside the store. Everyone was just standing around not doing anything. I ran to go get an associate because I don’t want my daughter to see that. I think that getting rid of gangs need to be a community effort and everyone has to be on the same page. I also see a lot of young people when they get out of San Andreas who are hanging around Albertsons smoking cigarettes, young couples kissing and holding each other’s hands. I wonder where these kids’ parents are and why no one says anything.
If one or two people out of each neighborhood come together and create a neighborhood watch, we can help cut down on the crime in this community. It takes a community effort to make a change.
