On Saturday, a group of residents connected to the Hollister Community Watch Facebook page, maintained by the Hollister Police Department’s Volunteers in Policing, held their first community clean-up event, according to a statement from the HPD.
About 70 people helped clean several locations throughout the City of Hollister, according to the HPD, while each location was selected after community members submitted suggestions through the Facebook page. The group’s goal was to clean at least one location in each city council district.
Locations targeted for the event included:
Valley View Park, Calaveras School, Calaveras Park, R.O. Hardin School, Cerra Vista School, Rancho San Justo School, Enterprise Road and Union Road
Community groups involved in this event were:
Hollister Kidz Crew, SBC Probation, LULAC Youth, Sacred Heart, Nino Real Estate, Oasis for Women,  The Hollister School District, Gibson Station Community Watch and Ausaymas 4H

The events main organizers, Karson and Vanessa Klauer obtained numerous local sponsorships including a 20 yard dumpster from Waste Management. The dumpster was nearly filled at the completion of the event. The only targeted location that was not done was Vista Park Hill Park. That location will be the first one at the next community clean up event.
