San Benito County’s unemployment rate was at 9.4 percent in the most recent figures released by the state.
The California Employment Development Department numbers for December 2014 showed the 9.4 percent number, which is 1 percent less than the figure from the same period in December 2013.
There were 2,600 people filing for jobless claims in county workforce of 27,400. It represented the expected, seasonal increase over the November number of 8.7 percent.
Statewide in December, the jobless rate dropped from 7.2 percent to 7 percent. The national rate dropped from 5.8 percent to 5.6 percent.
