San Benito County’s unemployment rate remained fairly steady in July at just under 10 percent, according to figures released Friday from the California Department of Employment Development.
The county’s unemployment rate in July was 9.8 percent, up slightly from 9.6 percent in June. According to survey results, in a workforce of 26,300 people, 2,600 were unemployed, according to the data.
That compares favorably with data from a year ago. In July 2012, the jobless rate in San Benito County was 12.7 percent, according to the EDD.
The state unemployment rate in July was 8.7 percent, compared with July 2012 when it was 10.7 percent.
