The San Benito County Office of Education recognized 16 Teachers of the Year at the regularly scheduled Wednesday school board meeting, including instructors from the Aromas San Juan Unified School District, the Hollister School District and the North County Joint Union School District.
Teachers of the year were selected based on their demonstration of seven “outstanding teacher qualities,” which included the demonstration of engaging teaching styles; a perpetual desire to upgrade their own education; and an ongoing desire to be a champion for students, schools and the community.
All recognized instructors must be fully credentialed and can teach any grade from pre-kindergarten through seniors in high school. Others eligible for the award include library media teachers, administrators with lots of classroom responsibilities and teachers of adults who teach elementary or high school curriculum.
