San Benito County fire crews spray water on the flames in a field near the high school.

A grass fire started in a field south of San Benito High School on Friday afternoon, but crews quickly controlled it.
The fire was reported shortly before 3 p.m. Friday in the field behind the Martin Rajkovich agriculture barn.
It wasn’t immediately clear how the fire started at a time when students are out on break.
