Did flu epidemic miss Hollister?

It seems like the media is trying to create a frenzy over a flu
epidemic and a shortage of vaccine. Perhaps we are spared in
Hollister, but I don’t see a lot of our neighbors afflicted.

My wife and I, in our elder years, have not had flu shots since we were in our 30s. And we have not either of us ever had a bad case of the flu. So what is the problem? In 1917 there was a terrible epidemic that killed more soldiers than in WWI. But we don’t see that happening now.

We would appreciate if you would survey your readers and determine if there is a real problem.
