A wonderful, international opportunity awaits a local, recently graduated college student who would like to be the assistant English teacher in Hollister’s sister city, Takino, Japan, for the next school year, beginning June 2004.

It’s a great opportunity for an adventurous person who wants to experience the customs and culture of Japan and its long history, while living and working in a beautiful area of the world.

Hollister and Takino celebrate their 15th anniversary this year and have enjoyed many exchanges of adults and students over the years. We have had 11 teachers, two of whom each taught for two years.

The hand carved, granite lantern (toro) in front of Hollister’s City Hall, reminds us of our sister city friendship and with its present pin, spring blossom canopy, it’s beauty is enhanced.

Interested applicants should call co-presidents Ruth Erickson at (831) 637-0987 or Geri Johnson at (831) 636-4304 by April 1, 2004.

Ruth Erickson,

Hollister
