Preparations were visibly under way and bikers continued to steadily stream into town during early parts of the week in preparation for the Hollister Rally motorcycle event set for the weekend.
“We came for the party,” said Mordekhay Amasalum, head manager for Biker’s Pride, a merchandise vendor company that does business at 19 rallies annually. “We came to support the event.”
Like others with financial interests in the rally, Amasalum’s company has great expectations for the second consecutive motorcycle rally in the city long calling itself the Birthplace of the American Biker. Last year’s rally was the first one after a five-year hiatus for an event drawing tens of thousands of visitors annually.
As evidence of those expectations for the 2014 event, Biker’s Pride will increase its presence from eight to 14 areas for merchandise vending. On Tuesday, Amasalum was at the corner of Seventh and San Benito streets as crews – he increased his number of employees from 30 to 54 – set up a tent on the empty lot.
