Hollister High head wrestling coach Matt Olejnik trekked to the Lawrence Miller Invitational in Martinez Saturday with only eight wrestlers.

Olejnik’s “eight men out” became “six men placing” as the Balers finished seventh out of 24 teams.

Three Baler wrestlers made it to the final match. Jamie Driskill was first at 119 pounds, while Octavio Lucatero (135) and Anthony Sunseri (130) placed second. Lucatero lost a tight 4-2 decision to a wrestler ranked 10th in the state.

Tito Flores was fifth at heavyweight while Robbie Johnson was fifth at 145 pounds. Joe Verissimo was sixth at 103.

The Balers are at Palma Wednesday in a Tri-County Athletic League dual meet, then head to Gilroy for the prestigious Mid-Cals next weekend.
