The shorthanded San Benito boys tennis suffered a tough 4-3 loss Thursday to Everett Alvarez in Salinas, and remain in search of their first league win.

The ‘Balers were without a player due to illness, and had to shuffle their lineup. As a result, the No. 4 singles position was forfeited.

The No. 3 doubles team of Thomas Parcell and Michael Frelier lost to Mike Castro and Irvin Del Balle 0-6, 2-6.

The ‘Balers (3-2, 0-2 TCAL) will return to the court Tuesday at Palma at 3:30 p.m. in Salinas.
