While some people dread planning events, Vicky MaGee, owner of Victoria’s Everlasting Events, loves what she does.

“I’ve been doing event planning for the last 20 years,” MaGee said. “It’s something I did for the companies I worked for. I’ve always loved to cook and entertain.”

Last year, the company MaGee worked for faced possible closure. MaGee felt it was time to combine her years of experience into her own business.

“You don’t get any younger,” she said. “This is something I enjoy tremendously. I went and took several classes at San Jose State and got my certification in catering. I’ve been in business for myself since last October. I can plan everything from intimate dinners for two, to company picnics up to 500.

“We’ve also been working for years, turning our own backyard into a place where people can have weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, baptisms and more. We can easily fit 100 people here in our on-site location.”

Clients choosing to hold their event on-site might easily find themselves enamored with the beautiful gazebo filled with white wicker Victorian furniture, the bench swing, the rose garden, pretty pond, fountains, bird cages, bird baths, lush green lawn, a variety of trees, an extended deck, walkways and even a well-planted vegetable garden.

“I love to decorate the yard,” said MaGee. “On every tree you’ll find chimes or a bird feeder. It just keeps growing. I dug the pond. I dug the whole thing. I’m read proud of myself.”

Details are a joy for MaGee. With every event, even the smallest dinner, she plans and presents guests with a menu. She cooks the food herself, and is very experienced in low-fat cooking.

“I do everything from start to finish,” MaGee said. “I’ll send the invitations if you want. I’ll follow up with a call to the guests. I’ll cook the food and bring the dishes. I’ll go shopping with people and help them buy the clothes they want. I guarantee my clients a stress-free event. Their job is to have a good time.

“The more challenging the event, the more fun it is for me. One family reunion being planned is for a group of vegans. I try out all the dishes I’m cooking on my mom and my husband Tom. They tell me which are keepers. Another client has asked me to help plan a sight-seeing tour for some relatives that will be visiting California for the first time.”

No event is too large or too small for Victoria’s Everlasting Events. MaGee knows that every client and every event is as unique as the people themselves. With that in mind, she’s willing to do whatever necessary to make the event a special one.

“Some people have no idea what they want, and other’s have it well planned in their minds,” she said. “I’ll work with them. From the simple to the extravagant, I’m very creative and imaginative. I’ll work down to the smallest detail. I’ve even put wrappers on water bottles and candy to go with the event theme.

“Not everything I do has to be a special occasion either. I know what it’s like to commute every day. You leave early and don’t come back until late. The last thing you want to do is cook. You end up going out a lot. I’ll be happy to have a meal waiting for people. They can treat themselves and their family.”

At Victoria’s Everlasting Events the motto is “Leave the planning to me and the piece of mind to you.”
