Dear Editor,

I want to compliment you on your recent article, “New, clear options for cataract suffers,” published October 31, 2007. It was an excellent article, factual and accurate.

Your readers should know that multifocal implants, as described in the article, are available in Hollister and have been in use at Hazel Hawkins Hospital for the past two years. Many San Benito County residents have had the ReSTOR implant placed in their eye at the time of their cataract surgery. These implants are being used on a regular basis at Hazel Hawkins and are available to most patients in need of cataract surgery. Those who may be interested should start with a comprehensive eye exam to see if they are candidates.
