Editor,
My name is Rene, father of the sole survivor of the October accident involving four Hollister teens. I would like to start by extending my sadness and sorrow for all families involved.
I’m still trying to grasp what took place that late October night. It’s something that is imbedded in my heart and mind forever. I knew Vanessa, Mondo and Andrew through my daughter. I still remember their laughter and smiling faces when they were together at my daughter’s house. I want to say we will miss them very much; we will always have them in our thoughts.
As a father, I try to be close to my children, for I believe a father should. I have been separated from their mother for about three years now, but always try to do what I can for them, child support etc. To sum up my point, I was recently reading the Free Lance and came across the article of my daughter’s involvement in this terrible tragedy.
I’m concerned that the California Highway Patrol hasn’t done a through investigation. For their No. 1 witness, my daughter, was never interviewed after she was released from the hospital. During her stay at the hospital they tried, but she couldn’t comprehend from all the medication, so they spoke to the daughter’s mom and myself and said it would take sometime for the investigation to be concluded. That was from officer Jerry Elrod, the M.A.I.T investigator who told me from what he knew, my daughter wouldn’t be charged with any wrongdoing.
So I ask the CHP what type of investigation was done to conclude their investigation? I’m not fully satisfied with your investigation. Furthermore comments about not caring to see my daughter does not sit well with me for she doesn’t need negativity in her life.
