A fire occurred in a Vine Street house Monday morning that caused some damage but no injuries.
The fire started at 122 Vine St. in a bedroom, which was destroyed. But the Hollister Fire Department responded and prevented flames from spreading to other parts of the building, according to Fire Capt. Jeff Granucci.
Granucci said only one man resides in the house, but his kids from a previous marriage often visit. Nobody was there when the fire broke out at about 9:45 a.m., he said.
The bedroom was gutted, and other areas of the house obtained serious smoke damage to much of the structure’s sheet rock, he said.
“They’re pretty much going to have to gut the building and start over,” Granucci said.
Fire Marshal Mike O’Connor inspected the fire scene throughout Monday afternoon but did not conclude its cause.
