games

Jr. Midgets -Broncos 8, Seahawks 0
Coming off an impressive 24-18 win against league powerhouse Palo Alto in last week’s jamboree, the Seahawks had high expectations. However after four quarters, San Benito was on the short end of an 8-0 loss to the Southern Marin Broncos over the weekend.
The game started out well for the Seahawks when Angel Jimenez set the offense up by running the opening kickoff back for 37 yards across midfield. But the Seahawks could not move the ball and were forced to turn it over to the Broncos.
The Seahawks defense set the tone for the day on the Broncos first offensive play when Kevin Casillas dropped the Bronco running back for a loss. Matt Manley, Michael Camacho & Jimenez continued the trend throughout the first quarter with tough defensive play.
The Bronco defense matched the Seahawks in the second quarter, including an interception that set up the lone score of the day. With good field position, the Broncos punched it across the goal line on a short run. The . conversion gave the Broncos a 8-0 lead.
In the third quarter, the Seahawks drove the ball down to the Broncos two-yard line. R.J. Clark completed several passes on the drive, including key passes to Christian Orozco, and Nick Jackson. Clark also ran the ball picking up first downs along the way. But a fumble stopped the drive.
Sergio Sanchez, Tyler Rodriguez, and Emmanuel Cabada anchored the defense for the remainder of the second half helping shutout the Broncos. Zachery Alnas had a huge hit early fourth quarter.
The Seahawks got the ball back and moved it, but could not find the end zone, and the game ended with the score still 8-0 Broncos.
The team will play its home opener at Anzar High on the Sept. 17 vs. Oak Grove.
Pee Wee – Broncos 34, Seahawks 0
What the San Benito team lacks in size, they make up with heart.
The Seahawks could not find the endzone against Southern Marin, and lost 34-0 to the Broncos.
The first quarter was a little rough for the Seahawks, as the Broncos score three touchdowns.
In the second quarter the Seahawks gave up a blocked punt for a touchdown. In the third quarter, the Seahawks gave up six points as Marcky Cox and Clint Fuentes teamed up to stop the extra point attempt.
In the fourth quarter, the Seahawks settled down and did not allow any points as the defense began to play better.
Cox was the led the team in tackes, with five solo tackles and three team tackles.
Fuentes added two solo tackles and three teamed tackles and played well under center on offense. Donny Torres played well with three solo tackles.
On the offensive side of the ball, Joseph Lyter had a couple of nice runs, including a 14 yard sprint. Hector Gomez came in off the bench to add some nice runs.
The Seahawks travel to Oak Grove on Sunday.
Tiny Mite – Broncos 12, Seahawks 0
The young Tiny Mites recovered nicely after a rough jamboree opener against Central Marin last week, but still dropped to the Broncos 12-0 last week.
In the first half, Christian Lopez recovered a fumble to stop a Bronco drive. The Seahawks started moving the ball late in the half, but ran out of time a score before halftime.
In the second half, Albert Calmenero had a 17-yard run with a great block from teamate Alexander Svenningsen. But the Sehawks could not get the ball into end zone.
The defense held the Broncos to the two scores, and the game ended 12-0 Broncos. The Seahawks play the Bay Area Spartans Sunday at Oakland Tech High at 9 a.m.
