Gavilan Rams

The Gavilan College baseball  jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, but San Mateo evened the score in the bottom of the second. 
The Rams were able to edge the hosts with an RBI single up the middle from Landon Cord to score Sean Allen which would be the winning run in their 5-4 victory Thursday in San Mateo. 
Jake Conlan started the scoring off for Gavilan with a two-run single to score Danny Guiterrez and DJ Santellano. Allen followed up with an RBI double to score Adam Kocina and Conlan.
Kocina was 3 for 4 with a run, while Conlan was 2 for 5 with a run and two RBIs. Allen was 2 for 3 with a run and two RBIs. 
Scott Tall got the win, going 6 1/3 innings while giving up nine hits, four runs and two walks. 
Gavilan will host City College of San Francisco at noon Saturday. 
SOFTBALL
Miguel leads Rams past Monterey
Paige Miguel was on her A-game Thursday.
The pitcher was nearly perfect, going the distance and giving up only one walk while striking out two for Gavilan in its 1-0 win at Monterey.
Olivia Barajas had the lone RBI in the top of the second to score Samantha Parraz and was 1 for 3 in the game. 
Gavilan improves to 9-3 on the season and will play a doubleheader against Porterville at noon and 2 p.m. today at home.
