Gavilan Rams

Eric Barron was near perfect on the mound for Gavilan Thursday.
The Rams’ ace went the distance, striking out 10 while allowing just three hits and a walk over nine innings to help his team to a 2-0 win over Monterey Peninsula College at home. Gavilan has won its last four straight.
With runners on first and second in the bottom of the fifth, Javier Garcia singled and advanced to second on and MPC error. This allowed both Bryant Cid and Tony Amaral to come home.
The Rams nearly scored in the bottom of the fourth, as Nate Christophersen and Edgar Arriola stood on second and third, respectively. Unfortunately for the hosts, they drew their final out on the next play to leave both runners stranded.
Garcia went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a walk. Cid was 0 for 2 with two walks and a run scored, while Amaral was 0 for 3 with a walk and a run.
The Rams (10-3 overall, 3-0 in conference) will take on Canada College at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Redwood City.
