Gavilan (6-1) defeated Hancock 14-1. The Rams have wrapped up their preseason schedule by outscoring opponents 60-20.

Dani Hernandez pitched five innings, striking out three and giving up three hits.

The only Hancock run was unearned after a batter reached base after catcher Alicia Reese dropped the third strike with two outs. Right fielder Nisa Ceballos tried to throw out the runner at home. The throw was not in time, but Reese made a heads-up throw to second to get the runner trying to advance to end the game.

Reese led the Gavilan offense with 4 hits (double, triple) and 2 RBI. Julie Broyer had a triple and 2 RBI. Mikhaela Osuna had a pair of singles and 3 RBI. Amanda Perez had 2 hits and an RBI.

Gavilan will play visiting Monterey Peninsula Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Coast Conference opener.
