Former world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, Mexican brawler Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo and undefeated 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha participated in a press conference in Santa Monica Tuesday hosted by Spike in advance of the Premier Boxing Champions and Bellator doubleheader Aug. 26 and 27 from Honda Center in Anaheim.
PBC on Spike takes place Aug. 27 in an event headlined by the former multi-division weight champion Guerrero as he takes on Argentine slugger David Emanuel Peralta. Televised coverage begins at 6 p.m. and features the hard-hitting Angulo battling-veteran Freddy Hernandez plus the unbeaten super welterweight Gaushagoing up against the Bronx’s Steve Martinez.
This will be Guerrero’s first fight since losing to Danny Garcia on Jan. 23.
Peralta is 25-2-1 coming into the bout and will mark his first match outside of his native Argentina. Guerrero said Peralta will give him a chance to get back into a contender’s role.
“I want to get back in there with the top guys,” Guerrero said. “All the fights are there. I have to get back in that position. I have to get them to stand toe-to-toe with me.”
Guerrero said while he knows he can still fight at a high level, he knows he has to show his fans he can still back it up.
“I don’t need to prove anything to myself. I know I can fight. I come in and work hard every day,” Guerrero said. “I have to go and prove it to the fans. The fans are what makes us. I have to prove it to everybody watching that I’m there at the top level.”
And Guerrero is going to do it against a guy who is 5-2-1 in the last eight matches after going 20-0 to start his career.
Peralta hasn’t fought in more than a year, since defeating Guillermo de Jesus Paz on May 23, 2015.
“You have to be able to be ready for anything in the ring. I know Peralta is going to be dangerous and at his best. I’m not looking past him.”

“I think boxing and MMA can co-exist because everybody likes to watch people beat each other up,” Guerrero said “People like guys getting put down and getting back up. It’s nice to have the two events back-to-back and I’m happy to be the guy out there putting on a show for the fans.”
The event took place at the Spike headquarters in Santa Monica as the PBC fighters discussed the exciting weekend of action along with the Bellator fighters.
