A man robbed a cosmetics supply store on Camino Arroyo last week and slipped away before police arrived.

Just before 10 a.m. Dec. 19, a man confronted a female clerk at Sally’s Beauty Supply at Gilroy Crossing near Barnes and Noble and demanded money. Though the man told the clerk he had a handgun, the clerk never saw one, police said. The clerk handed over cash, though police wouldn’t say how much, and the man ran away on foot.

The clerk was not hurt and no one else was in the store at the time, police said.

By the time the clerk called police and they arrived on scene, the man had fled the area, police said.

The robber was described as a heavy-set, Hispanic male between the ages of 35 and 45. He was unshaven, stood about 5-feet 3-inches tall, weighed about 200 pounds and had a mustache and a dark complexion, police said. He was last seen wearing a black fishing hat, a dark gray sweatshirt and faded black pants.
