The Gilroy Mustangs may just be the lead horse in this year’s TCAL after dismantling the Mountain View Spartans 27-0 at Garcia-Elder Sports Complex Friday night.

Senior running back Travis Reyes carried the ball 12 times had 80 yards and a touchdown to go with 6 catches for 72 yards and another score. Junior quarterback Jamie Jensen, starting his first varsity game, was 23-34 for 229 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

GHS went into halftime with a 17-0 lead after a blocked kick sparked the offense following a Jensen interception on the first drive. The defense forced five turnovers in the game and limited the Spartans to under 200 yards of total offense.
