Pros: Shopping online can be overwhelming since a quick search for a certain item can reveal dozens of places online where merchandise is available. My Simon takes some of the guesswork out of the shopping experience since users can search for a certain item and this site pulls up a page that has comparisons of what the same item would cost at a variety of online outlets.
The cool thing about the site is that users can see if other customers have rated a vendor so they know if it is a legitimate business, or at least one that has worked well for other customers. A quick search for a pair of designer shoes returns prices ranging from $118 all the way up to $244. Which ones would you choose?
When users do find an item and vendor, they can click on the “See it” button to be directed to the vendor’s site. This opens up a new window so users can easily go back to My Simon to look at other items again.
Cons: If you don’t know exactly what you are looking for, browsing the site can be overwhelming. For example, even when narrowing down a selection in women’s clothing to tops and T-shirts, there were still more than 200,000 items to choose from. A great selection can be great, but scrolling through page after page of comparisons might be a little exhausting.
