Where to find it: www.sportingnews.com

Who runs the site: The Web site is run by The Sporting News team. The company originated in 1886 as a publication for sports fans. It continues to publish a magazine monthly. It also has published many sports books and has its own radio station.

Who is likely to use the site: Anyone who enjoys sports of any kind should consider visiting the Web site. It is a perfect place to go for sports news and rumors. It is a legitimate and trusted Web site as Sporting News has been reporting and publishing since the late 1800s.

Why it’s cool: This Web site offers all sports fanatics a place to go to read and catch up on their favorite teams, certain players or even sports trends. It has all the top headlines from the sports world. It also hosts a variety of fantasy leagues for players of all ages, including baseball, football and basketball. It provides free fantasy leagues for those who are just interested in fantasy for fun. It also offers pay-to-play fantasy leagues. Those are for the more hardcore fantasy players that play for big prizes. Overall, this is a great Web site to visit to catch up on life in the sports world.

Pros: As a sports fan, I enjoy knowing what is going on in sports. Sporting News does an excellent job of providing visitors with all of the day’s most important headlines, as well as features, and in-depth stories about a variety of sports and teams. It also provides readers with a selection of columnists that share their opinions, as well as blogs and forums for Web site goers. I also enjoy participating in the free fantasy leagues offered. I am not a crazy fantasy guy, but it is fun to create a small league and compete with my friends.

Cons: As a huge sports fan, I can say for the most part, there is not anything wrong with the Web site. While visitors do have to subscribe to the Web site to get full access to everything it has to offer – the Web site is mostly free. For those who are not big sports fans, the layout may be slightly confusing and it is hard to find where the member blogs are. Other than those minor things, the Web site is very enjoyable.
