place on Monday at the second league meet at the Salinas Golf and
Country Club.

The San Benito boys golf team took a small step back from last week’s performance at the first Tri-County Athletic League Tournament — five strokes, to be exact — but still managed to garner second place on Monday at the second league meet at the Salinas Golf and Country Club.

The Balers shot a 217 behind matching 40s from Will Cross and Nathan Winn, but Palma earned the top spot for the second straight week when it carded a team score of 195.

Chieftain Sergio Rios medaled the round by recording a par 36.

Meanwhile, Jacob DeLeon finished his round with a 44 for the Balers, while Jade Kimura and Dalton Destefanis rounded out the team with a 46 and 47, respectively.

Third place went to Everett Alvarez, which finished nine strokes behind San Benito with a 226. Gilroy (235), Salinas (237), Alisal (287) and North Salinas (312) took spots fourth through seventh, respectively.

The Balers will welcome Atwater on Thursday at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. The Hollister golf course is scheduled to host the third TCAL Tournament on March 18.
